I could’ve just deleted the post about Daytrips instead of writing another one but I don’t want to shy away from my failures in here – I want to write about them more often in fact – so this is what I’m doing instead.

It’s been almost a full year since I tried introducing this concept, and in fact I’d started working not only on this website but also on a fun little study room optimiser for which I’ve just sat down to write a first post about. Of course a lot of what I described in that post happened: I got busy and dropped everything else for work or study.

At the end of the day full-time university work ends up being full-time (duh), much more so than full time employment I’d say. I mean, no one is asking you to work on school projects or on your thesis on weekends1. In the end finding a balance is the key.

I’ll keep on being very passionate about computing, and I do take it as an interesting hobby, trying to implement new stuff. I just need to keep on getting better at balancing academic and work requirements with my own personal requirements, not only for this one hobby but for a lot of other stuff as well.

If anything, having this idea of just exploring my own creativity led me to daydream more, do some more blue sky thinking and consider stuff I wouldn’t have otherwise. Now that the next project list has piled up, it’ll just be a matter of taking it on a step at a time.

Surely the crazy ideas won’t stop coming, but I wouldn’t have it any other way.
